Célivine Size Guide

At Célivine, our goal is a confident, comfortable fit. Use this guide to measure accurately and choose the right size. If a product page includes a specific “fit note,” follow that first.

How to Measure

Tools: Soft measuring tape, full-length mirror, or a trusted helper.

  • Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust with the tape parallel to the floor. Keep arms relaxed at your sides. Wear a well-fitting, non-padded bra if you’ll wear one with the garment.
  • Underbust: Measure snugly around your ribcage directly under the bust (helps with fitted tops and structured dresses).
  • Waist (natural): Bend slightly to one side; the crease is your natural waist. Measure at this narrowest point—usually above the belly button.
  • High Hip: 3–4 inches (7–10 cm) below your waist, around the top of the hip bones.
  • Low Hip (Full Hip): Around the fullest part of your hips/seat—typically 8–9 inches (20–23 cm) below the waist.
  • Inseam: From the crotch seam straight down to the ankle bone (or desired hem point). Measure a pair of pants you love for the most reliable inseam.
  • Arm Length: From the top of the shoulder (where a shoulder seam sits) down to the wrist bone, with arm relaxed.
  • Shoulder Width: From the end of one shoulder across the back to the other shoulder tip (useful for blazers and structured tops).

Pro Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Stand naturally: Don’t suck in or flex. Breathe normally.
  • Keep the tape level: Check in a mirror that the tape is parallel to the floor all the way around.
  • Snug, not tight: The tape should sit flat against skin without indenting. If it rides up, you’re measuring too high or too tight.
  • Measure over thin layers: Measure over lightweight undergarments for the most consistent results.
  • Repeat to confirm: Take each measurement twice and average if needed.
  • Photo check: Snap a quick side photo while measuring bust/hips to see if the tape is level.
  • Time of day: If you bloat later in the day, measure at your usual shopping/trying-on time.
  • Between sizes? Use the fabric & ease notes below to decide up or down.

Common Measuring Mistakes

  • Pulling the tape too tight or letting it hang loose (adds or subtracts 0.5–1").
  • Measuring high hip when a style needs low hip (or vice-versa).
  • Wearing a push-up or thickly padded bra for bust measurements when you won’t wear one with the garment.
  • Not measuring across the fullest part of the bust/seat.

Fabric, Stretch & Ease (Choosing Between Sizes)

Ease is the difference between your body measurement and the garment. Different fits use different ease amounts:

Fit Type Typical Ease at Bust/Waist Notes
Fitted 0–1.5" (0–4 cm) Choose closest to your body; size up if fabric has little/no stretch.
Tailored 1–2.5" (2.5–6 cm) Balance shape and comfort. Good for workwear and dresses.
Relaxed 2–4" (5–10 cm) Laid-back feel. If between sizes, size down for less drape.
Oversized 4"+ (10+ cm) Designed to be roomy. Size down for a cleaner silhouette.

Fabric Stretch Guide:

  • Woven (no stretch): Linen, poplin, satin, tweed → consider sizing up if between sizes for fitted cuts.
  • Light stretch: Crepe with elastane, ponte → true to size unless you prefer very fitted.
  • High stretch: Jersey, rib knit, modal/elastane → true to size or size down for a closer fit.
  • Thick knits & sweaters: Often forgiving; choose by length and desired drape.

Category-Specific Notes

  • Tops & Blouses: Allow ~1" ease at bust for button-ups to prevent gaping. Broad shoulders? Prioritize shoulder width and sleeve comfort.
  • Dresses: Bodycon → match bust/low-hip closely. A-line/wrap → waist is flexible; use bust and low-hip to decide.
  • Pants & Jeans: Choose by waist + low-hip. Inseam is alterable; pick the rise (high/mid/low) you prefer at your natural/high hip.
  • Skirts: Bias or stretch skirts are flexible at hips; pencil skirts need accurate low-hip.
  • Outerwear: If you’ll layer over chunky knits, consider sizing up; otherwise true to size for tailored silhouettes.
  • Knitwear: For slouchy looks, size up; for clean lines, true to size or size down in high-stretch ribs.

Extra Help Choosing Your Size

  • Between sizes? Check fabric/stretch first. Choose the smaller size for stretch knits and the larger size for non-stretch wovens.
  • Petite (under ~5'4"/163 cm): Watch lengths and sleeve/leg proportions; hemming pants/skirts is easy.
  • Tall (over ~5'8"/173 cm): Prioritize sleeve length, rise, and overall hem length; consider longer inseams.
  • Alteration-friendly: Waist nips, pant hems, and strap adjustments are simple, low-cost tweaks that elevate fit.
  • Compare to a favorite: Measure a garment you love and match those numbers to our charts for a quick reality check.
